1. music and promo message: first and foremost is the annoying hold music, repeated promo message.i really don’t understand when we live in a caller tune and background music while in call era, why not allow customer in hold or queue to select what he want to listen?
  2. duration: maybe if i am allowed to select what i want to listen in queue/hold, i wouldn’t complain, but still the duration is still a annoying factor, but that can be solved by keeping the customer engaged.
  3. information collection: there are some fancy ambitious customer cares, which want to collect details at ivr phase as others do but they never give to customer representative’s screen pop.
  4. long menu or no escape available: i don’t understand why don’t menu designers reserve a dtmf to go back to main menu or direct transfer to customer care any time, some times you will end up in a road block menu and what next? call again and do it from the start.

  3. do i have to mention you need cd drive?

lets begin:-

  1. load audio
  2. open itunes and right click over the disc and import the track, this will keep the tracks in default music folder of your system
  3. now, open the any audio convertor and select the audio file you need to convert to mp3 and hit convert button

ever had this situation, your favorite and long searched track is being played in a website sadly there is no further information where to buy, where to search etc, what the track name is, etc… only option i left out with is to record the audio itself, but i am not that desperate to record it with a mic while it is being played in speaker, i required a neat solution. stepvoice gave that solution.

it records the sound being played in the system without a mic or speaker, it supports mp3 format – on the fly, that is saving space.

very neat application, it is not a freeware but comes with trial version. you can download it at: click here

Screenshot04

lets say you want to record a audio track from a youtube video

  1. launch stepvoice application
  2. select the path where the recording file need to be saved
  3. open the youtube or where the audio file is being played
  4. start playing the video with volume on
  5. start recording in stepvoice
  6. make sure there is not other sound producing application running
  7. once done, stop the recording
  8. verify the recorded file(mostly it is with very good sound quality.)

in continuation to my previous blog post “Getting organized with evernote

now let us see how to keep our notes secure, i have three worlds – 1. office, 2. personal, 3. hobbies. i traverse between these worlds at any given time of the day, i want all the information in one place(evernote) but i am not comfortable that

  1. my other information (hobby, personal) are staying in my office computer when i am not around office.

to solve this, we can use truecrypt (lifehacker.com – how to use truecrypt effectively) i am not going to explain in detail how to create a volume in truecrypt now(may be later), please refer to the link above.

if you have followed the above link, you would have created a truecrypt volume and mounted in your system already, now open your evernote main window.

  1. Go to Tools –> options
  2. this window will appear -  image
  3. change the path to your mounted drive.

from now on, evernote content will load only if your highly protected truecrypt drive is mounted. very secure now.

my friend even found a way to auto mount the truecrypt drive by asking for password at the system boot phase itself, i will ask my friend to share the information.

What is more annoying in windows operating system? For me at this moment is update, and keeps whining about the system restart.

1. I reached office after a terrible traffic out there in arcot road, kodambakkam bridge, then nungambakkam high road. But good i still had a smile on my face, greeted everyone walked in front of me.

2. Started my computer, it took ages to boot. Still had a smile on my face, good i get time to relax.

3. Started outlook, did i mention i stared at start up logo for 2 – 3 mins, then bang ‘message’ you need to archive the outlook, i said okay, smile is fading a bit.

4. Outlook started its duty of archiving, i think windows forgot for the moment its multi tasking capability, freezing and hour glass one after another.

5. Hurray, archive completed….wait there’s send and receive pending

6. Now send and receive, lets receive all spam first, it said 40% still no official mail in, just the spams first – awesome

7. Now everything is done, looks like a storm hit area very silent..yeah, silent. Now i can load all my applications i use for the day.

8. Loaded all my applications, ready to start my day.

9. Your computer has been updated – require restart.

Damn..really loosing my patience at this point, said no and continued with my work, after popped up again, again no… again shall i, again no…went on like this for hr or so, then at some point i ended up pressing yes button accidently… Now read from the point #2…. Still with smile on my face…i love you windows…microsoft you rock
