<p>Dialogic Corporation yesterday announced the release of DiaStar server version 2.0. its is a open source project sponsored by dialogic corporation, this new release will bring video features from dialogic products to open source / asterisk. </p>
<p>some of the highlighted features are(as per their website) </p>
<ul>
<li>Call Progress Analysis (CPA) Enhancements -User-Defined Tone Detection with detection results available in both Asterisk Dialplan and the Asterisk Manager Interface (AMI) </li>
<li>Robust support of SIP Video from the Asterisk Dialplan, including: </li>
<ul>
<li>Play and Record Audio and Video </li>
<li>H.263 Support </li>
<li>MPEG4 Support</li>
</ul>
<li>Video Transcoding between H.263 and MPEG-4 </li>
<li>Video Transrating </li>
<li>Video scaling to enable playback of video on different sized video screens </li>
<li>SIGTRAN signaling support </li>
<li>Native media bridging</li>
</ul>
<p>The new features will enable asterisk developers community to utilize DiaStar server to create applications like IVVR system, video surveillance systems, video gateways, mobile advertising, and banking. </p>

<p>download VMWare Player 3.0, i downloaded from <a href="http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/VMware-Player.shtml">here</a></p>

<p>open your newly installed VMware Player</p>

<p>select create new virtual machine option.</p>

<p>browse and select iso file where the asterisk iso is saved.</p>
<p>it will show the following error message.</p>

<p>it next window it ask you to select the “guest operating system”, select linux and red hat linux</p>
<p>in next window it will ask for name of your virtual machine, i named it Asterisk and the location where this image can be saved.</p>
<p>go next and select the size for your hard disk(recommended 8GB) – voila it comes to this window</p>
