Cheaper and faster internet connections – running out of hard disc spaces

My hard disc is running out of space both in laptop as well as in my desktop, with so many movies in desktop and i still dont understand whats filling my laptop hard disc did all possible scans, anyways for now both my desktop and laptop hard disc’s are running put of space, i’ve serious thought to buy a external hard disc when i did a lil search i made up my mind to stick with transcend its cheaper and looking better, will place order in ebay.
Mean time the thought on running out of space strike my mind.
- we’re living in the age of where internet is reasonably cheap, good connectivity, good speed to notice.
- Most of the content we just wanna save and access it later when needed are multimedia contents eg: movie, musics, pictures, etc.
- We’d love to save our contents online if we have confident that our content are as safe as we save in our very own hard disc. no worry abour copyright or security.
- Access to our content anywhere and in any medium including music and movie players, cell etc.
I think what youtube, google video, picasa, flickr, are doing is good, but this is not enough, we need something like gmail to email.
Someone ready to give unlimited hard disc space, easy access/usability, multi client type support, secured access(say i wont check your content).

Will you use speech recognition over touchtone?

I was reading through a article on speech recognition technology implementation at contact centers.
As far as i know no human would love to talk to a machine, that being on major reason, there are other things as well, like privacy for example, no one would like to shout at a ivr about their account number or anything private. And, besides privacy and psychology factors, it is really pain at the moment to make the speech recognition system to understand the utterances and get tuned up for each individual.
we prefer voice recognition only when driving our car and calling some customer care. apart from that we’re comfortable with touchtone. This just means we love speech recognition, but just we’re not patience enough to teach our new buddy…
so is it waste of time to spent time and resources on speech recognition?
Absolutely NOT, i think it has to be blended in the begining touch tone as well as speech recognition, and slowly eliminate touchtone at some point of time when speech recognition is way smarter.
Probably, like there should be one central system like openid we have at internet, there should be one common system for speech recognition for each users, so they need not train the speech recognitions every business they contact.

Product idea: social networks website data – backup possible?

A friend of mine at facebook had her account disabled, i dont really how much she lost with her old account, but very sure to an extent handful of pictures and article sharing. It makes me think at this age we’re taking backup for each and everything, is there a product out there that will take regular backup of certain vital data’s from those websites that has become part of life.
here’s product idea and requirement:
1. This website will fetch all key data’s from your social network websites,emails, etc.
2. These data’s are in backup format to download
3. This website is secured
4. Should not disturb actual business/purpose of those websites.
