how to protect evernote content?
Dec 13th
in continuation to my previous blog post “Getting organized with evernote”
now let us see how to keep our notes secure, i have three worlds – 1. office, 2. personal, 3. hobbies. i traverse between these worlds at any given time of the day, i want all the information in one place(evernote) but i am not comfortable that
- my other information (hobby, personal) are staying in my office computer when i am not around office.
to solve this, we can use truecrypt (lifehacker.com – how to use truecrypt effectively) i am not going to explain in detail how to create a volume in truecrypt now(may be later), please refer to the link above.
if you have followed the above link, you would have created a truecrypt volume and mounted in your system already, now open your evernote main window.
from now on, evernote content will load only if your highly protected truecrypt drive is mounted. very secure now.
my friend even found a way to auto mount the truecrypt drive by asking for password at the system boot phase itself, i will ask my friend to share the information.
My typical work day and windows OS…

What is more annoying in windows operating system? For me at this moment is update, and keeps whining about the system restart.
1. I reached office after a terrible traffic out there in arcot road, kodambakkam bridge, then nungambakkam high road. But good i still had a smile on my face, greeted everyone walked in front of me.
2. Started my computer, it took ages to boot. Still had a smile on my face, good i get time to relax.
3. Started outlook, did i mention i stared at start up logo for 2 – 3 mins, then bang ‘message’ you need to archive the outlook, i said okay, smile is fading a bit.
4. Outlook started its duty of archiving, i think windows forgot for the moment its multi tasking capability, freezing and hour glass one after another.
5. Hurray, archive completed….wait there’s send and receive pending
6. Now send and receive, lets receive all spam first, it said 40% still no official mail in, just the spams first – awesome
7. Now everything is done, looks like a storm hit area very silent..yeah, silent. Now i can load all my applications i use for the day.
8. Loaded all my applications, ready to start my day.
9. Your computer has been updated – require restart.
Damn..really loosing my patience at this point, said no and continued with my work, after popped up again, again no… again shall i, again no…went on like this for hr or so, then at some point i ended up pressing yes button accidently… Now read from the point #2…. Still with smile on my face…i love you windows…microsoft you rock

facebook productivity killer
May 15th
Facebook(or any social networking website, it core purpose is just meet friends & fun) is not for business users, esp for the one starting career, or someone just started advancing in their career. facebook just time killer in the core. i have seen it, and been there. does not provide any real value in return, all it gives is information overload, well what kind of information? if your friend got bitten by werewolf’s, or if they sent ice cream or anything extreme silly.
to get out of the addiction, i started removing all useless apps mercilessly ranging from werewolf, cake gifts, to what kind of stupid are you etc, and have only the one’s that keep my facebook page breathing like rss feeds(i have google reader, stumbleupon) and twitter(i love it) app.
