Twitter has crossed ten billion tweets today, this wasnt said by some sort of counters for tweet, they had gigacounter which is down with over traffic, they concluded it has crossed 10billion tweets by tweet id. It crossed 1 billion in november 2008 and 5 billion four months ago. Source
